Dear Friends:
It has taken a lot of thought and discussion with my
fellow Union County neighbors and friends, but because I
do care what happens to all the residents of our county,
I have decided to enter the Commissioner’s race this
fall.
My desire is to do all within my power to ensure that
Union County is a better place to live, work, raise a
family and enjoy one’s retirement years.
I think that my past record as your Commissioner speaks
for itself. I never used that position to feather my own
nest, but instead chose to work to make Union County a
great place to reside in while keeping the county’s
annual budget reigned in. People do not need to be taxed
into the poorhouse, but their taxes do need to be spent
in ways that improve their county in a wise and
thoughtful manner.
In the four years in which I served as Union County
Commissioner, I showed that Harold Cook could get things
done…and done well without excessive taxes and runaway
government.
With that said, to the residents of Union County I say
that I have the desire, the foresight and the proven
ability to lead Union County for the next four years.
Desire is only one aspect of being the people’s
commissioner. You must show that you have that ability
to serve as their humble servant by past actions. I have
a partial list of the things accomplished during my
administration as Union County Commissioner that I feel
improved the living conditions of Union County
residents. In the future sound fiscal practices are
going to be a necessary requirement for your
commissioner. Waste in government when administering to
county needs cannot be tolerated. Wise spending programs
and positive growth will be a necessity when looking to
the needs of young and old in Union County. When
choosing your next Commissioner I hope that as concerned
and responsible voters you will look to past
conservative fiscal spending and the positive
achievements made during my administration and the
everyday regard shown for my constituents.
I remember as a young member of the United States Air
Force a remark made by my Commanding Officer that
addresses a lot of issues. “He Who Can Accomplish Does,
While He Who Cannot Accomplish Tends To Find Personal
Success In The Form Of Excuses And Complaining.”
Sincerely

Harold Cook |
